“To eat any meal together is to meet at the level of our most basic need. It is hard to preserve your dignity with butter on your chin, or to keep your distance when asking for the tomato ketchup. To eat this particular meal together is to meet at the level of our most basic humanness, which involves our need not just for food but for each other.” -Fredrich Buechner, Theologian

LENTEN WORSHIP:
The Gospels are full of stories of Jesus sharing meals with disciples, friends, even tax collectors and Pharisees. Whether multiplying bread to feed a whole crowd, relaxing with his inner circle, or telling curious elites stories about even greater banquets, Jesus imparts wisdom as he shares the wine and grants forgiveness as he distributes the fish. This Lent, we will journey alongside Christ from table to table.

Dates & Topics for Worship:
  • February 22 - Jesus Dines at Levi the Tax Collector's House (Luke 5: 27-32)
  • March 1 - A Woman Anoints Jesus at Simon the Pharisee's House (Luke 7: 36-50)
  • March 8 - Jesus Feeds the Multitude (Luke 9: 10-17)
  • March 15 - Jesus Calls Out the Pharisees (Luke 11: 37-54)
  • March 22 - Jesus Invites Himself to Zacchaeus' House (Luke 19: 1-10)
  • March 29 - The Last Supper (Luke 22: 7-23)

LENTEN SMALL GROUP STUDY:
Join us after worship on Sundays in Lent to keep the conversation going as we explores some of the lessons within James C. Howell's book Unrevealed Until its Season: A Lenten Journey with Hymns. You do not have to attend every session. Readings will be provided in advance.

MAUNDY THURSDAY POTLUCK DINNER & SERVICE:
Bring a dish to share and join us on Thursday, April 2 at 6 p.m. in the basement fellowship hall as we observe Maundy Thursday and remember The Last Supper with a shared meal and brief service. The service will include Holy Communion and hand/foot washing.
